Title: Re: Risk assessment and hygiene for reopening apple retail store strategy
Post by: stog on May 15, 2020, 08:37:49 AM
Apple store strategy and there is apparently a good instructional apple video for retail somewhere to be found

Retail employees are following a strict set of guidelines that very heavily emphasize social distancing of two meters (or six feet in the United States). Apple is taking the following measures:

After opening its South Korea store on April 16, Apple has reopened its sole store in Vienna, Austria (https://www.macrumors.com/2020/05/04/apple-store-austria-reopens-may-5/), and 21 stores located in Australia (https://www.macrumors.com/2020/05/04/apple-reopening-australia-stores-may-7/). Stores in Germany will begin reopening on May 11, and all of the newly opened locations are following many of the same guidelines listed above to keep both customers and employees safe.

It is important to check with state and local health officials and other partners to determine the most appropriate actions while adjusting to meet the unique needs and circumstances of the local community.

" I want to cook and put your food on a plate instead of in a box. I want to pour you a glass of wine and tell you why it will pair so well with the main course. Can all this be done from behind screens, gloved and masked and incessantly worried about finances or whether or not the restaurant will have to close for two weeks because of a single phone call?
For now – for me – the answer is no, it can’t. There is too much still outside of our control. So while there are some elements that we can control we will continue to do so. Consequently, for the time being, we will continue to offer our food for takeaway, refining it and improving it and getting it to you in a safe manner. Hopefully it goes some way to reminding you – and us – what we have to look forward to when the time is right."

this is especially relevant today after the announcement that restaurants can re-open in the UK next month in 11 days time, and as test trace is still flaky with no immediate local notification to Public Health -- see contact tracing for article on this

the swiss cheese respiratory viral pandemic defence

This image highlights that no single intervention is perfect at preventing the spread of a respiratory virus. However, multiple layers of protective approaches will improve success.

Based on the Swiss Cheese Model of Accident Causation by James Reason, this is an adapted version which has been developed by virologist Ian Mackay and colleagues from the University of Queensland.

This calculator imitates a contact between two people (one is you) and is based on the swiss cheese model for coronavirus, adapted by Doctor Ian M. Mackay, who portrays the fight against COVID-19 as a pile of cheese slices.

The more slices (ways of protection) you have, the less chance of the holes coinciding and the safer you are.
