ok to free DIY............either get Blogger from Google or similiar free and useable blog software which you can control without having server space, or read on if you want more control or want your own Board...this will require that you have server space........
Ingredients
server space with mysql if you want to to run say WordPress or similiar & a Bulletin Board (where both you and other people can post, and you can edit/post mostly online using just your browser, but it usually costs) (but if you've already got some server space courtesy of your internet provider, then you can often upgrade to get mysql, or use their space as is, and upload your content yourself)

install Wordpress & phpBB2 or punBB or simplemachines; all free & open source which use Mysql already on the server.

we'll provide you with a subdomain of soul-trade eg www.yourniftyname.soul-trade.com (or a true domain www.yourniftyname.com for £100 contact us for details)
/load and install Wordpress & phpBB2 or whatever you choose and the add ons and tools you need, and help you get started. so that you will have a working site/blog and/or BB at your disposal, and be able to use and customise it, yourself. Obviously the more you put in, the more adept you'll become, but our brief is for you to be up and away, and knowing how to continue.
we will provide a backup of the initial build on a separate server, and provide you with a self backup utility (and show you how to backup to your home computer) we will assist you where possible through the year, and advise you if there are any important upgrades to be undertaken, otherwise, a maintenance extension can be taken out each year, if required, which would include all upgrades and new services, and server and domain management.
If you decide to buy our web lifestyle package, we recommend you still follow Firstly http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients and perhaps get a ftp client working on your own computer, but if not, there is a .Net FTP browser based ftp client included in the package.
We will send you, on receipt of your username and £50, a password for your site and instructions within a week, mostly available online already, together with a cystalsolutions email address if you request it. If you are local, we will personally show you and assist your setup.
If you wish to be a trainer/helper and you know how to doa lot of this, please contact us, as we are maintaining a database of helpers who can assist people in other areas.
We can also provide Business add ons and custom solutions.. for example ...... a cottage holiday let - whole business solution including website, booking system and payment processing, online and/or phone, with tourist board integration, training, maintenance, marketing and backup)

If you wish to transfer your site to your own domain at a future date, you would be completely free to do so, and would then have no need to take up the extended annual fee.
