nick built it and here is the ebay description.. The cheapest fun you can have on water with your clothes on - be ready for the summer!!! "Duckin Quackers" is a Puddle Duck Racer or PDR designed by an Australian to be just about the cheapest and simplist vessel on the water whilst out performing many of its more expensive and complicated competitors. Speeds of 8 knots have been recorded by some owners due to its planing hull. See the link below or google Puddle Duck Racer for lots of info and pictures about the dinghy

I built it over the winter of 2009/2010 to keep me out of the pub and used it throughout the summer of 2010 on the East Coast of North Yorkshire. Its built from external ply and sheathed in 2 coats of epoxy resin and up to now, 4 coats of yatch varnish. I changed the design slightly in that it has a split air box at the stern allowing me to fit a transom plate suitable for a small outboard. I've run it with a 4.5hp Chrysler outboard and it fair skipped along. This also allows the rudder plate (Photo 7) to be slotted over the transom plate (Photo 6) to take the rudder and with the removable centre keel and mast in place you now have a full sailing dinghy or by removing all these items you have a easily rowed tender or play boat (Oars not included in sale but can be obtained cheaply on ebay)........................ THAT'S 3 BOATS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE !!! The dinghy can be easily carried by 2 adults and with a strong roof rack/rails is car toppable although I use the small trailer seen in photo 2. Solid brass screws and stainless steel fittings are used throughout and items such as the mast, sail, rudder and keel are all salvaged items from a holed dinghy meaning this sturdy little dinghy will last for many years with just a little maintenance and a coat of yatch varnish at the end of each season. I have made several wooden boats using this method, two of which live outdoors, one been 8 years old and still in good condition. The bow and stern air tanks are filled with epoxy sealed plastic bottles making this dinghy virtually unsinkable so very safe for children and for teaching them the rudimentary basics of sailing or rowing. Its wide flat design makes it possible to actually walk around inside the boat without it heeling over which is the same as when it is under sail, it remains flat in the water and steering is by transfer of weight. The hull is designed as a planing hull. The dinghy will carry 4 adults as a tender or 2 when under sail or can easily be sailed single handed So all in all this is a fantastic all rounder but please be aware it is hand built so don't expect "Sunseeker" factory finish and it has the usual beaching scuffs which can be simply sanded and recoated with varnish, but it will do all the above admirably although it may not win any beauty pageants!!!
