Claiming Methods for Self-Employed (Bicycles)

You generally have two options for claiming bicycle costs on your Self Assessment tax return:

1/HMRC Advisory Rate (20p per mile): While not explicitly listed under Simplified Expenses for the self-employed, HMRC often accepts the 20p per mile rate as a "reasonable" estimate of business costs. This is the simplest method and avoids tracking every repair or equipment purchase.

2/Actual Costs Method: You can claim the business proportion of your actual cycling expenses. This includes:Capital Allowances: A portion of the bike's purchase price.Running Costs: Repairs, maintenance, insurance, and safety gear (e.g., helmets, high-vis).Private Use Adjustment: If you use the bike for personal trips, you must reduce your claim accordingly. For example, if 50% of your cycling is personal, you can only claim 50% of the costs

our software covers this and MTD quarterly breakdowns with submission due dates (Q1–Q4)

Enhanced Clinical Quality Audit

The Statistics page now includes a dedicated Clinical Quality Audit tab giving practitioners meaningful insight into clinical outcomes across their practice.

Key metrics include average improvement percentage by condition, therapy type and treatment modality, with traffic-light colour coding (green 75%+, amber 50-74%, red below 50%) making performance patterns immediately visible.

The audit table shows — for each condition treated — patient count, total sessions, average sessions per patient, average improvement, and the percentage of cases achieving 75%+ or full 100% resolution. A separate therapy type breakdown allows comparison of outcomes across different modalities.

Additional panels cover prognosis vs actual outcome, referral source analysis, employment type and occupation sector breakdowns, and full demographic charts (age, sex). All data can be filtered by date range or year and by individual practitioner.
The cohort analysis feature, accessible from the Audit page, allows any search result set to be colour-tagged and then analysed as a group — giving the kind of found-set reporting familiar to users of systems like FileMaker.
