About La Contenta

La Contenta, or ‘LC’ as we affectionately call her, is a Najad 490. She was built in 2002 with the brief to create a safe, comfortable and easily managed blue water cruiser for a husband and wife crew. She has a centre cockpit and two cabins sleeping four or five in style. She was designed to have ample storage and easy access to all of her many amenities, both on deck and below, making sailing in all conditions both possible and pleasurable.

We are her third custodians and are benefiting from the love and care that her previous two owners have bestowed on her. We too have carried on the history of good maintenance and upgrading, adding a cruising chute, new dorades, an iridium phone and red box, and upgraded some of the interior electrics.

She joined our family in July 2016 and we sailed her up to Whitehaven where she has been based over the summer. She is now registered in Campbeltown as we are huge supporters of Scottish Whisky and we are proud to fly the Arran Distillery flag on board.

She has now begun her journey south and we will be sailing with the ARC in November 2016 across the Atlantic from Las Palmas in the Canaries to Rodney Bay in Saint Lucia. This is a journey we have all done before: LC in 2003 with her first owners, and Dave and M-C last year on a Jeanneau 57 Dona Flor.

About Dave & M-C

We are a husband and wife team who, when land based, live and work in Cumbria.  2016 saw us make changes in our lifestyle by fulfilling our dream to sail more.  We want to share our boat with friends (old and new) who want to develop their sailing skills, be creative, or who just want to relax, explore and have fun! La Contenta lives up to her name and is a very happy boat to spend time on.
